Master Park & Trails Plan
This is a Master Site Development Plan for Crafton Borough's six parks, focused on creating a 15-year roadmap for improvements based on community needs and priorities.
Key Framework: The plan categorizes improvements into four types based on implementation significance:
- Essential: Safety, security, and code compliance issues
- Adaptive: Repurposing existing facilities to broaden functionality
- Inaugural: New amenities for undeveloped sites
- Aspirational: Transformative enhancements that "raise the bar"
Timeline:
- Immediate (2022-2025)
- Moderate (2026-2032)
- Long-term (2033-2038)
Top Priorities from Community Input:
- Neighborhood Parks First: Noble, Linwood, and Clearview parks ranked highest for meeting daily resident needs
- Public Works Property Sports Complex: Planned as a modern facility with lighting, parking, drainage, and amenities to replace fields being repurposed elsewhere
- Crafton Park Improvements: As the main community park, it received lower priority for major projects like a new band shell, but smaller improvements will proceed alongside neighborhood park work
The plan emphasizes balancing immediate safety needs with long-term vision, ensuring equity and access while making strategic investments that don't compromise future development goals.
