The Borough is responsible for trees between the sidewalk and the street, otherwise known as the tree lawn. We have a licensed arborist to advise on best practices tree maintenance and management. In some instances, it is Duquesne Light's responsibility to prune and maintain trees in the tree lawn due to overhead powerlines. We also provide an annual tree planting program whereby you can receive a free tree for your yard upon request.

The Borough does not maintain trees on private property.  

The Shade Tree Commission is a five member body established by ordinance with the charter to manage, maintain, and grow Crafton's public trees.

Meetings and Commitment: 2nd Tuesday of each Month at 6PM.

Meeting Location: Council Chambers, 140 Bradford Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15205; Zoom; various outdoor locations throughout the Borough

Duties: The Commission is tasked with maintaining the urban tree population of Crafton to enhance Crafton's beauty and quality of life.

Requirements: The Board consists of five members, each of whom is a full-time resident of the Borough of Crafton. Members are appointed by Crafton Borough Council to serve for a five-year term.  Becoming a certified Tree Tender is required.
