Nature & Walking Trails
Crafton has completed a “Crafton Borough Trail Study” to improve our nature trails and providing easier access to these trails. Implementation of the plan is underway and will be ongoing. Follow this page as updates and progress is made.

Baker’s Acres Trail runs along a portion of the old trolley line between Crafton Boulevard and Woodland Avenue. Plans are in place to create a “linear park” with a 0.39-mile paved trail with amenities and a rustic hiking trail in the valley abutting the West End Busway.

Crafton Creekside Trail is a 1.35-mile trail running along and on the Chartiers Creek levee. It is accessible from near Crafton Park (the intersection of Crafton Boulevard and Duncan Ave) and beyond the Public Works Building on Desoto Street. Plans have been proposed to provide better access to the trail heads and Chartiers Creek to provide opportunities for paddling activities and fishing access.

Clearview Trail also follows the old trolley line running parallel to Crafton Boulevard from Clearview Avenue to McMunn Avenue. The Clearview Trail will become an important link as interest and planning is growing to expand the Panhandle Trail into Pittsburgh and the City of Pittsburgh creating a trail into the West End Valley along the old trolley line.

Master Park & Trails Plan
This is a Master Site Development Plan for Crafton Borough's six parks, focused on creating a 15-year roadmap for improvements based on community needs and priorities.
Key Framework: The plan categorizes improvements into four types based on implementation significance:
- Essential: Safety, security, and code compliance issues
- Adaptive: Repurposing existing facilities to broaden functionality
- Inaugural: New amenities for undeveloped sites
- Aspirational: Transformative enhancements that "raise the bar"
Timeline:
- Immediate (2022-2025)
- Moderate (2026-2032)
- Long-term (2033-2038)
Top Priorities from Community Input:
- Neighborhood Parks First: Noble, Linwood, and Clearview parks ranked highest for meeting daily resident needs
- Public Works Property Sports Complex: Planned as a modern facility with lighting, parking, drainage, and amenities to replace fields being repurposed elsewhere
- Crafton Park Improvements: As the main community park, it received lower priority for major projects like a new band shell, but smaller improvements will proceed alongside neighborhood park work
The plan emphasizes balancing immediate safety needs with long-term vision, ensuring equity and access while making strategic investments that don't compromise future development goals.
